Why Farm Town on Facebook will survive!

If you are here, then you know about Farm Town, an app on Facebook. Farm Town allows you to have your own farm, along with farm animals, barns, houses, flowers, paths, rivers, and even mailboxes. You can plow your land, plant your crops, have neighbors, buy more land, and even get paid by other farmers to harvest their crops. Farm Town is massive.

As of July 11, they have about 11,580,000 active users. 40% of my friends on Facebook are using Farm Town right now.
The thing I like about Farm Town is the fact that they keep adding to the game. The interaction with other players is what will keep Farm Town going longer than some other apps on Facebook. I get daily requests to fill out this quiz, or add a classmate app, or to a top 25 things about me. I’ve done none of those, but continue to plow my land and plant my crops.
One thing that might hurt Farm Town is the issues that arise when your farm gets larger. The time it takes to plow and plant is a huge drain of any free time you might have to play the game. Issues of getting kicked off the server also play a factor, but I believe Slashkey will take care of those issues going forward.
Right now, Slashkey is doing a good job of adding addition content, such as crops, bridges, buildings, rivers, picnic tables, etc. They are keeping farmers happy with the additions. What I believe will keep Farm Town going is the interaction. My Mom, sister, and even my wife are my neighbors in Farm Town, keeping it interesting. The ability to chat as you play is awesome.

Whether or not you like games like Farm Town, you have to admit they built a big base very quickly.
